Doll Craft: Balance Beam/Mat for dolls

By on 1-09-2012 in Doll Crafts

I found this awesome craft on the Doll Diaries website, and I decided to make it for my dolls, to celebrate McKenna’s release. I think that gymnastics will be more popular than ever this year, mainly for 2 reasons: the Summer Olympics are happening this year, and McKenna, AG Girl of The Year 2012, is a Gymnast. I also made a mat for my dolls with the leftover materials 🙂

BALANCE BEAM FOR DOLLS

You will need:

• 5 sponges (you can find them at your local dollar store)

• 1 roll of duct tape (in the colour or pattern of your choice)

• A pair of scissors

Step 1: Line up 5 sponges lengthwise.

Step 2: Tape the pieces together as shown in the pictures below

Step 3: Cover the sponges completely with duct tape, layering as you go. Make sure to cover the sides of the sponges, too 🙂

GYMNASTICS MAT FOR DOLLS

You will need:

•3 sponges

• 1 roll of duct tape (in the pattern or colour of your choice)

• A pair of scissors

• The doll of your choice (just to show the scale of the mat compared to the doll)

Step 1: Split the sponges in half lengthwise.

Step 2: Tape the pieces together. The pieces should look like they’re in the shape of a gymnastics mat when they’re taped together.

Step 3: Cover the sponges with duct tape.
Step 4: Position your doll so that she’s sitting on the mat. The mat might be a little bit small compared to the doll, but it will work perfectly 🙂

Now, you’re ready for some fun gymnastics-themed doll play 🙂
